He was Winemaker of the Year in 2001 and is acknowledged as one of the best makers of Pinot Noir in the world. His experience covers over twelve vintages with Domain Dujac, the establishment the Bannockburn Vineyard to its icon status and now his own vineyard, By Farr. He will guide the Master Class through his own wines and those wines made by his son, Nick Farr, at Farr Rising. Dog Point - New Zealand’s best Sauvignon Blanc Panel: Ivan Sutherland is one of the leading lights of the New Zealand wine industry. He helped establish Cloudy Bay and in his role as its Chief Viticulturalist, guided it for over nineteen years to its current heights of world recognition. Even before he was at Cloudy Bay he established his own vineyard in one of the most distinguished sites of Marlborough. Together with his winemaker partner, James Healy, who also was the Chief Winemaker at Cloudy Bay, they now produce Dog Point, which many consider to be the best Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc. In this Master Class, Ivan will outline the unique techniques they use at Dog Point and will guide you through these remarkable wines.
