TARRAWARRA ESTATE
Yarra valley Victoria
![]()
James Halliday Wine Companion 2008
TarraWarra Estate is a 400 hectare property on a prime site at the warn Eastern end of the Yarra Valley in Southern Victoria. The vineyard is planted on a north facing slope at approximately 100 metres elevation, and comprised 12 hectares of Chardonnay and 17 hectares of Pinot Noir, most of which was planted in 1983.
Since the first vintage more than 20 years ago, TarraWarra Estate has established itself as one of Australia’s great wine estates, with the TarraWarra Estate Chardonnay and Pinot Noir consistently receiving widespread acclaim and many prestigious Australian and international awards.
Wine maker Clare Halloran has lightened the Tarrawarra style, investing it with more grace and finesse, but without losing complexity or longevity.
Tin Cows is the second label, with most of the grapes for the Chardonnay and Pinot Noir estate-grown. This range of wine is named after a herd of metal sculptures permanently grazing at the entrance to the vineyard. With a focus on vibrant fruit and pure varietal character – these wines over-deliver in quality, reflecting the serious TarraWarra edge combined with the exciting packaging and value of the Tin Cows brand.
